Can You Have Sex While Wearing a Penis Plug?

As with almost any kind of sexual toy, one of the first questions people might want to answer is “can I have sex with it?” While sex wearing a penis plug is definitely possible, it’s generally not advised. It comes with a number of risks.

Risks

Firstly, the plug might simply just come out. Unless you have a Prince Albert Piercing and the plug is attached to your own body, there is nothing to hold the plug in place. During the vigorous movements of sex, it can be very easy for it to come out. Sometimes even the amount of lube you use can make the difference, as too much lube will leave everything slippery and able to move back out. It may even get caught on a part of the vagina, pulling it out, which would be much more painful.

The risk of a plug coming out mean you should never, ever try to wear one during anal sex. Objects which are inserted to the anus can be easily lost. They will continue to travel upwards, eventually reaching your colon and once there will usually require surgery to remove.

The plugs can also cause internal damage to your partner. While the outer end of the plug may be rounded and smoothed off, it is still a piece of metal. Having a small piece of metal jabbing various parts of the inside of the vagina is never a good idea, as scratches or even tears can be dangerous and very painful.

Can men ejaculate while wearing a penis plug?

Ejaculation presents somewhat of a problem for penis plug users. Luckily there are plugs designed with this in mind. These are hollow, allowing the bodily fluids to pass through the centre of the tube ad out of the body. If you are going to have sex with a penis plug (and we still don’t recommend it), use one of these.

Some men choose to use a normal penis plug during sex and masturbation. Having the blockage in the penis restricts the ejaculation, and when it is finally released they claim to have explosive, more powerful ejaculations. This requires precise timing, to remove the plug at the exact right time. This kind of timing can be difficult during sex, as you need to remove the penis and then remove the plug. Mistiming things can cause retrograde ejaculation, in which your semen moves further into the body rather than out, reaching the bladder. This can cause some painful infections and maybe even permanent damage.

Ultimately, the people who want to do this are going to anyway. If you are one of them, we’d recommend you wear a condom during intercourse to both stop the plug falling out and getting lost, and to help protect your partners body from any damage. If you ever plan to engage in risky sexual activities, you should always try to make them as safe as possible. Listen to your body, and your partner, and if anything seems off, stop immediately and remove the plug.
